You can expect to pay between £900 and £1,000 (including VAT and excluding installation) for the Potterton Ultra Heat Boiler.
The Ultra Heat is one of Potterton’s lightest and most compact boilers, weighing in at just 19.5kg and measuring a rather discreet 626mm (H) x 370mm (W) x 270mm (D).
It is a condensing wall-mounted model that can fit in a standard kitchen cupboard and is ideal for properties with a traditional heating and hot water system. This is because the boiler needs to be linked to a separate hot water cylinder and cold water storage tank, as well as a feed and expansion cistern.
Priced between £900 and £1,000, the Potterton Ultra Heat comes with a standard 2-year parts and labour warranty and is available in 12kW, 15kW, 18kW, 21kW and 24kW outputs.
With an efficiency rating of 89.1%, this model is SEDBUK A-rated and Energy Saving Trust recommended, so you can be confident that you’ll be getting a highly efficient and cost-effective boiler when you choose the Potterton Ultra Heat. If you want to reduce running costs and save around 60% of your annual energy for heating water, you can use the boiler with an optional Megaflo Eco Solar Cylinder – which uses energy from the sun to provide you with hot water.
Potterton’s Ultra Heat is supplied with an easy fit wall mounting bracket with audible lock to ensure the boiler is always secure on your wall. It comes with a top central flue and 1-metre lead, along with a wide choice of flue lengths to allow the unit to be installed in a number of locations within your home.
As no pump overrun or permanent live are required with this model, installation is guaranteed to be quick, tidy and less disruptive for all residents. The boiler does have a clear LED display with fault diagnosis and user adjustable CH temperature to help keep you in control of your heating and hot water.
This state of the art heat only boiler also has front and side access to all of its components, allowing your engineer to service and maintain the appliance in a quick and straightforward manner.
Five units with different heating outputs from 12kW to 24kW make up the Potterton Ultra Heat range, making this model ideal for small and medium-sized homes. The boiler is also a great option if you have higher hot water requirements or live in a property with older-style pipework and radiators. Obviously, the greater your demand for heating and hot water, the larger the output you will require. However, you will need to get a Gas Safe engineer to look over your home and assess your usage habits to find out which boiler output is best suited to your needs.

This small model by Potterton is capable of meeting high hot water demands, which means it’s a great choice if you have multiple bathrooms and tend to use more than one shower or bath at the same time. The amount you will need to spend on the Potterton Titanium Heat will depend on the size of your home – and the larger the unit you need, the more money you will need to pay.
You also need to remember that this is a heat only boiler (also known as a regular, conventional or open vent boiler) that works together with a storage cylinder and tank, so it will require more space than a combi or system boiler. If you don’t already have these extra components installed, you must check that you have enough airing cupboard and loft space at your property.
The Titanium Heat is designed to be wall mounted and is surprisingly slim and light, so it should look neat and tidy wherever you choose to keep it. We think the user controls could be a little smarter, however, they are simple to use and hidden away to prevent young children from fiddling with them.
