    Vokera Compact A Combi Boilers

A new Vokera Compact A Combi Boiler will cost between £445 and £485 including VAT and excluding installation.

    Vokera Compact A Combi Boilers

    Available in sizes 25kW and 29kW, the Vokera Compact A is a cost-conscious condensing boiler with extremely small dimensions that measure 715mm (H) x 405mm (W) x 248mm (D).

By being so small, this unit will fit neatly into a standard sized kitchen cupboard or can be placed virtually anywhere else in the home. And because the Compact A is a combi boiler, it is capable of providing hot water and central heating on demand and does not require a water storage tank or cylinder to do its job.

Ideal for apartments and houses where space is limited, Vokera’s Compact A comes with a generous 5-year parts and labour warranty and typically costs between £445 and £485.

    Boiler Energy Efficiency Credentials

The Vokera Compact A is a SEDBUK A-rated, Energy Saving Trust endorsed boiler with an energy efficiency rating of 89%. Not only can it reclaim latent heat and reduce fuel consumption but also lower running costs by as much as 35%. In addition to this, the boiler comes with anti-cycling controls to help reduce wasted energy and general wear. Better still, this small, yet powerful appliance is compatible with a wide range of optional Vokera intelligent controls that can help to make the boiler up to 97% efficient.

Compact A Technology and Main Advantages

Even though it is a small combi boiler, the Vokera Compact A uses the latest in boiler technology. It has built-in frost protection to minimise frost risk and cold weather damage, as well as an anti-cycling control to prevent wasteful on/off cycling and reduce wear and tear. Then there is the autostop disabling function, which automatically changes the operating mode and moves it into standby.

Another key feature is the hot water survivor function, designed to give you access to hot water even if the hot water thermistor fails. There is also a plated heat exchanger to reduce the risk of scaling and superheated areas, along with multiple flue options.

Further efficiency can be achieved when the Compact A is installed with a weather compensation sensor or OpenTherm control such as BeSMART. If you wish, you can also attach a 7-day RF programmable thermostat with a Tyco connection to the boiler for greater efficiency and to maintain the perfect room temperature.

Is the Vokera Compact A the Right Boiler Type and Size for Your Home?

As previously mentioned, the Vokera Compact A comes in two sizes, 25kW and 29kW. Both appliances are great for properties without much storage space because they are so small and can be kept in a kitchen cabinet. But, as you’ve probably already guessed, the 29kW model packs more of a punch than its little brother. Please use the following information as a rough guide, and always ask a Gas Safe engineer to check if the Compact A will meet your heating and hot water requirements.

The Compact A 25 has a maximum flow rate of 10.2 litres per minute and is suited to apartments, bungalows and small houses with up to 2 bedrooms, 10 radiators and 1 bathroom. As for the Compact 29, it can provide 11.9 litres of water per minute and is best for small to medium-sized homes with 3 bedrooms, 15 radiators and 1 bathroom. Just be aware that combi boilers can struggle to cope with two showers running at once.

Our Honest Opinion of the Vokera Compact A Combi

Compact and economical, this combi boiler can be quickly installed because it uses mains pressure to provide both heating and hot water, rather than an external tank. This also means you don’t have to wait for a tank to fill to enjoy an instant and permanent hot water supply.

If your existing boiler is old and inefficient, and you decide to switch to the Compact A, you will notice a big difference to your energy bills. As well as having a high official energy efficiency rating and the ability to cut your bills, this boiler can help to reduce your carbon footprint.

With the Compact A, you also have the option to convert it to LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) with an LPG conversion kit. Plus, performance and efficiency can be improved with a whole host of smart Vokera controls and accessories. All in all, we think this combi boiler is an excellent choice for a family living in a small to medium-sized home and with a lower demand for hot water.
