    Boiler Energy Efficiency Credentials

The Potterton Promax Combi is an Energy Saving Trust endorsed boiler and has an efficiency rating of 89%, making it an A-rated product. By being a fully modulating boiler, it knows how much fuel is required to meet demand in your home and will adjust itself accordingly. This can help to save you money on your fuels bills, with the boiler offering you gas savings of up to 37%. The boiler is also compatible with the brand’s Multifit GasSaver flue gas heat recovery device, which recycles the heat from the flue gases that would otherwise be wasted and uses the recycled heat to preheat your hot water.

Promax Combi Technology and Main Advantages

This combi boiler by Potterton features concealed user controls and comes with separate hot water and central heating controls. It has an LED display with fault diagnosis to shows the temperature and status of the boiler at all times, along with robust hydraulic connections to enhance boiler quality and reliability.

The range includes three output sizes with different maximum hot water flow rates, which are as follows:

    • Promax 24kW Combi – 9.8 litres per minute
    • Promax 28kW Combi – 11.5 litres per minute
    • Promax 33kW Combi – 13.1 litres per minute

Other key features include a pre-plumbing jig to cut down installation time, as well as flueing options of up to 20 metres to enable the boiler to be mounted vertically or horizontally in a variety of homes. An optional stand-off bracket which helps to keep the pipes routed behind the unit is also available.

Not forgetting the optional Multifit GasSaver device, which offers up to 700g carbon emissions savings and reduces cold water consumption by 7%.

Is the Potterton Promax Combi the Right Boiler Type and Size for Your Home?

Offering a range of kW options, this boiler is ideal for apartments, bungalows and houses of all sizes. The 24kW version is best for small homes with 1 bathroom and around 10 radiators, and the 28kW unit is perfect for medium-sized properties with 1 bathroom, 1 ensuite and up to 15 radiators. Then there’s the larger 33kW Promax Combi, which is a sensible solution for larger dwellings with 2 bathrooms and 20 radiators. And remember, you don’t need tanks or a cylinder with this model, so it’s also ideal for homes with limited loft and storage space. You should, however, always ask a Gas Safe engineer to help you choose the right model, output and flow rate for your home to make sure your new boiler satisfies your needs.

Our Honest Opinion of the Potterton Promax Combi

The Potterton Promax Combi is not only economical to run but best in class for NOx 5 rating, so you can rest assured that this appliance is kinder to the environment. It’s also a fully modulating and highly efficient boiler that always uses the right amount of fuel to ensure you save money on your energy bills.

If you require a boiler that can run on LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), this model is not equipped for this and can only run on natural gas. But if you live in a small, medium or large property and want a high-efficiency water heater and central heating boiler in a single unit, this combi could be the one for you.

We have noticed that some engineers have said that this model is a bit noisy compared to other combination boilers out there today – but they haven’t experienced any issues with performance and reliability. Don’t forget, the boiler has a 2-year warranty so you will be covered if anything happens to go wrong further down the line.
